Uluwatu Temple or Pura Luhur Uluwatu which is dedicated to the spirits of the sea, is popular for its magnificient scenery and sunset view.
A Javanese priest, Empu Kuturan founded this temple in the 10th century. In the 15th century, Dhang Hyang Dwijendra, a pilgrim priest who established the present Hindu-Dharma religion chose Uluwatu Temple as his last resting place.
There are quite a number of monkeys here as well and we were reminded many times to keep our mobile phones, camera, sunglasses as well as reading glasses in our bags while passing by the area where the monkeys lurks. I thought, hey.. it can't be that bad, right? Until Bina started searching for a broken branch. He said it's for precaution purposes... just in case the monkeys start attacking us..then I thought he must be taking it too seriously till I noticed other tour guides have sticks or branches on their clutches too @_@.
Entrance fee @ Rp 3,000, inclusive of sarongs (if your skirt / trousers is worn above your knees) / coloured cloth to tie on your waist (if you are wearing a long skirt / pants below your knees).
This was what I meant - Coloured cloth worn by the lady in black / Sarong worn by the guy in blue shirt =D
Bina our tour guide lead the way as usual =D
He hasn't found a stick / branch at this time yet..But thank goodness there were no 'ambush' by any monkeys here.
One of the good spots to take photographs such as the picture below:
The feeling for being able to stand here and look at the views - SPEECHLESS..
It's a bit scary to be looking down from the cliff..not for those who are afraid of height...
But it's really BEAUTIFUL!!!
Just at that moment I'm feeling at peace...
This a MUST VISIT place!! Make sure you put it in your itinerary if you plan to visit Bali soon =D
We met the notorious monkeys when we made our way towards the Kecak Fire Dance stage. While on our way, noticed a commotion as a lady just got her sunglass snatched by a monkey and the lady was determined to get it back, she actually fllowed the monkey b climbing over the boulder. Her friends kept telling her to forget it and don't risk falling over the cliff! Gosh! Drama!
