Had post-Christmas dinner with Skinny Bones and his ex-gf..oopss did I just say that out loud?.. I mean.. friend.. at Ingolf Kneipe German Restaurant & Bar. ^_^
The exterior of the restaurant (it's just next to 7-11 & Guardian Pharmacy)
The bar
Cream of Mushroom Soup I remembered the first time I had this, many years ago, I tag it as BEST mushroom soup I've ever tasted. Sadly, this time around, it wasn't so great anymore =( I think the mushroom soup at Chili's Grill and Bar tasted better compared to Ingolf's. Hmm.. maybe the chef wasn't in a good mood so it didn't taste as great? =p Damn! I was so disappointed!
Grilled boneless Porkchops served with potato wedges and garden greens!
Lamb Chop!!!! I've requested for the potato wedges to be changed to mashed potatoes.. hehehehe.. Love the mint sauce by the way ;)
Beef rolls wrapped up with bacon strips served with fresh garden salad, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut (sour cabbage).
Orange Juice (this is from the cordial, not freshly squeezed) But it's alright :)
Green Guava Juice (it's not freshly blended either)
Earl Grey Tea, served with..erm..it looks like a piece of brown sugar it tasted like a cookie.hmm.. so, Brown Sugar Cookie it is! =p
I called Dominos Pizza’s hotline (1300-888-333) to make an order this morning for my boss and his directors’ lunch-in meeting. It goes like this:
Dominos Officer (DO): Good Morning, Welcome to Dominos Pizza and he mumbled something abt Pizza puff Crust bla bla bla.. My name is Chin. What is your order today?
Me: Hi Chin, Good Morning I am Lil Piggy (of coz I told him my actual name..hahaha) and I would like to use the SF 221 coupon which entitles me to 2 Large Pizzas with Extra Cheese.
DO: May I have your mobile number please?
Me: So I “spelled” my mobile number slowly… zero one three..
DO: *I can hear him typing in the background* 0..1..3..
Me: six, one, five
DO: *type type…* 6..1..5..
Me: eight, eight..
DO: double zeros?
Me: No… double eight! Double eight one six
DO: So, I repeat, your number is 013 615 8816?
Me: Yes, Correct…
DO: You are calling from Block C?

DO: That’s two large pizza with extra cheese. So what type pizza you want to order? (at this I was like.. Oh gosh..what happen to the “quality” of Dominos Pizza’s call centre??)
Me: I’d like to have one Aloha Chicken and Seafood Delight please..
DO: Aloha Chicken, what type of crust you like?
Me: I’d like to have both pizzas on the thin crust please..
DO: Your address is at the 10th floor ma’am?
Me: Yes, that’s correct.
DO: What is the flavour for another pizza?
Me: *slaps forehead* The second flavour would be Seafood Delight. ONE Aloha Chicken, ONE Seafood delight.
DO: Ok ma’am. Anything else to add in your order?
Me: No, that’s all.
DO: Ok Ma’am, total bill is RM 50 and it’s 11.00am now. Your pizza will be arriving at 11.30am. Thank you for calling Domino's Pizza.
Pheew.. I was relieved that the order was finally done! Gosh! Was quite frustrated when I was still on the phone. But after the call, I started laughing!
*some details (name/contact#) has been changed to protect the identity of individuals.
It has been ages since my colleagues and I spoke about visiting Sri Rampai's night market (locals call it - Pasar Malam).
Not that my housing area in Kelana Jaya doesn't have one but I'm actually looking for an opportunity to try out a snack (a heavenly delicacy to some) : Chow Tow Foo aka Smelly Tow Foo (Fried Fermented Beancurd). This snack is not available at the pasar malam near my housing area.
The weather looks good and all of us (myself and girlfriends - one who loves chow tow foo and another who have smelled the chow tow foo but haven't eaten before) are able to leave office at the same time and off we go!! Both of my girlfriends are quite familiar with Wangsa Maju / Sri Rampai area.. so I've got two good "tour guides"..hehehe
6.30pm: The LRT ride from KLCC station to Wangsa Maju station after office hours did nothing to fade my excited and curious feeling to experience how smelly or tasty the smelly tofu as people claimed it to be...
7.15pm: Rapid KL bus ride (T302) from Wangsa Maju LRT Station to Sri Rampai Getting nearer to our destination! hohohoho..
The normal pasar malam scene greeted us when we reached. Stalls selling veges...fruits..
Stalls selling food..accessories for the ladies, earrings, bangles, necklaces, nail art stickers.. etc..)
One of my girlfriends told me that we are approaching the stall that sells Chow Tow Foo..so I start sniffing to check any foul smell in the air yet? Sniff..Sniff..Sniff.. Nope.. Nothing - Even there's a light breeze blowing to my face..Reached the stall..and still I can't smell anything??? What's wrong with my nose huh?
Customers queuing up to purchase Chow TowFoo
Chow Tow Foo being deep fried till crispy
While my "Love Chow Tow Foo" friend wait for her turn to buy a set for us to share (RM2.50 for 4 pieces), I took a vacant seat by a drain and suddenly a pungent aroma seeped into my nose and I told my friend seated next to me.. Gosh.. the smell of this drain is horrible! and she said, that's not the smell of the drain.. it's the tow foo's smell!
By then the PUNGENT SMELL gets STRONGER, I have to hold my breath at times and try to breathe in air bit by bit so that I don't get too overwhelmed by that smell to avoid any signs of puking before tasting the tow foo.. @_@
It's smells so pungent and putrid..one breath sucked in and I feel nauseous! UGHH!! BLUEKK!! Now I am having second thoughts.. to eat or not to eat the smelly towfoo??
This is how the smelly towfoo is being served.. Accompanied with some chilli sauce, some cabbages and carrots soaked in a little vinegar.
With my girlfriends encouraging me and cheering me on, I smelled on a piece of fried towfoo and it doesn't smell horrible at all.. so I took a small bite..Crispy... Took another bigger bite.. a bit squishy in the inside..a smaller scale of pungent smell comes with this bite but it was bearable.. finished one piece..and shove the remaining to my girlfriends and they asked me to finish another piece..@_@ All this while, thank goodness I didn't smell the strong smell again..finished eating and gave myself a "well done" pat on myself..hehehe
After that, told my friends it's time to go hunting for some other stuffs to eat.. Well.. I need to get rid of the taste and smell of the towfoo ain't I? hahahaha
Stopped by this China Burger stall..noticed there's a "Ho Chak" sticker for this stall..I must have missed an episode. Click here to view the video.
Note: Ho Chak! (Hokkien for 'very delicious', a local programme by channel 8TV which promotes various local food that can be found in Malaysia)
China Burger being prepared - a choice of minced meat (pork)/ prawn/squid/chicken/ sausage/sardine as its filling.
End result of China Burger..one part egg.. one part flour..
Minced meat in between egg and flour..
A packet of Fried Yellow Noodles and Koay Teow
Pan Mee Soup They said this pasar malam also boast the nicest pan mee in town..hmm.. Well, the sambal is nice.. noodles are al dante enough. Best part is, they provide limes for us to squeeze the juice out by ourselves..so, we decide how sour we want the soup to be =) Two limes for me! Sluurrrpp!!!
Pan Mee - Dry Style
Curry Mee
To wash it all down, we also ordered - in Cantonese: "Cheng Pou Leung" (pictured on the left) & 'Longan Sui" (pictures on the right).
I know "Longan Sui" is called "Air Mata Kuching" in Bahasa Melayu and "Geng Geng" in Hokkien.. Can't recall what they call 'em in English =p
I don't know what is "Cheng Pou Leung"..There's a bit of the "frog eggs look-a-like" jelly and some other stuffs in there.. sweet stuffs of course.. but i should have just followed my friends (the locals) and ordered the "Geng Geng"..
Stomach filled up, thirst quenched.. it's time to make my way home...a long ride from Wangsa Maju station to Kelana Jaya station...It was worth it.. I enjoyed myself despite the smelly drain smell towfoo experience.. at least I've tried it for once.
A BIG THANK YOU to both of my pasar malam guide.. hehehehe.. As I am typing away .. I still remember the Chow Tow Foo smell - fresh in my nostrils! LOLZ!
New Moon premiers in Malaysia on 25th Nov 2009, Wednesday and the nationwide screening was on 26th Nov 2009, Thursday.
Yet, I told myself.. be patient just for a few more days... My sweet sister was the one who queued up patiently amidst the looooong queues on 26th Nov to get us the tickets and better seats for Saturday's (27th Nov 2009) midnight show so that we would be able to watch together after her shift ends at work. YES!! Got the ticket! Good seats too! Kudos to my sister!
The crowds waiting at the cineplex - not only are there teenagers or tweenagers.. those who are young at heart are there as well! =)
The wait's over, FINALLY, I get to watch NEW MOON!!
The first thing I realized was - the kissing scenes. In the book, the smell of Bella's blood is too yummy for Edward to resist. So.. yeah.. he practises his self control over her scent by not breathing. There's no show of affection by kisses at all..what more on french kisses...hmmppff... So, for the benefit of non-readers of New Moon book, the reason why Bella asked Edward to kiss her before she gets into her home after the paper cut incident at the Cullen's place was because Bella on the other hand yearned for Edward's proximity. She's human...and he's her boyfriend..of course she craves for affection..
Secondly, in the movie, Bella addresses Charlie as "Dad", not in the book though...Bella calls him Charlie.. she finds it awkward to call him dad so she calls him simply by his name, Charlie. Also, in the book Charlie is not so "positive" nor good at cracking little jokes as in the movie - but I guess the director wants to instil some good "parent-child" mannerisms to the movie goers, especially the tweenagers.
Next.. about Jacob and Bella's special friendship. The intensity of Jacob's feelings towards Bella can be felt strongly in the movie compared to the book. Ohh.. I must mention that at one part of the movie when Jacob took of his shirt to wipe of Bella's bleeding forehead after she fell from the bike.. his hot body took my breath away...................but I was feeling even more faintish with glee over his buff body after his transformation took place, his body looks even HOTTER! GAWD! If all guys have that type of body......ooppss..pardon me... back to New Moon.. =p
Above: A scene from the movie where Bella goes to the movies with Mike Newton and Jacob Black. This part is quite funny...Mike and Jacob BOTH let their hands rest on the armrest - hoping for Bella to choose and hold on to them...
Also the way she finds out about what Jacob has turned into is different. In the book, Bella figured out by herself that Jacob has turned into a wolf after putting pieces of information together but in the movie, she found out watching his trasformation "Live".
Harry Clearwater's fatal heart attack in the book, happened when he was in the woods but directors decided to add Victoria into the picture (sort of to merge a few chapters together into a continuous scene). In the movie, Victoria attacked Harry Clearwater before she got chased by the wolf pack. Harry passed away from the shock and heart attack after Victoria's assault.
After the casting of votes by the Cullen family (which supports Bella's decision to become one of them after her grduation day), Bella was happy with the support and the movie ended by Edward proposing for her to be his wife if she wish for him to "change" her himself. Now, let me share with those who haven't read teh book yet - the reason why Edward proposed to Bella is because he knows she is not so keen into the idea of marrying young (history of her parents whom married young and later separated). Edward knows by proposing, he hopes to buy some time to allow Bella to stay human as long as she could.
There are a few more scenes that the director cleverly merged together and to make New Moon's movie more interesting...So. I would recommend you to read the New Moon's book and to watch the movie as well! hahahaha!
I've never been to the previous Big Bad Wolf Book Sale before.. and I am EXCITED at the idea of CHEAP books...Between RM 3 - RM 10!!
Counting the days, my mind is set - after I got off from office, took the Kelana Jaya LRT from KLCC station to Taman Jaya station. From here, a mere 5 minutes walk and I've arrived at Amcorp Mall.
Never seen Amcorp Mall's car park this full before...
Upon arriving at the entrance of the sale...
Buy! Buy! Buy!!! First you select a few.. then add another.. then another! Some even used a box as a "shopping basket" (including yours truly) =p hehehehe
Look at all those books... This is so much better than any other book fair I've been!
There's also a section for Children books.
Not to forget books in Chinese...
By the way, notice the word "Chinese" and "Cashier" are so close by that it read "Chinese Cashier"? hehehehehe....I was too busy browsing and selecting books, I didn't notice till my friend pointed it out and made me and another guy standing nearby laughed...hahaha
The queue is long but the wait is not too bad...
Many "Chinese Cashiers".. are set up for customer's convenience =)
All these are in the range of RM8 - RM10 per book.
I went there to get 10 books but ended with.. 19 books... @_@
Anyway, I AM A HAPPY HAPPY BOOKPIGGY today!! ^_^
