Nasi Padang

.

Passed by the Puti Bungsu Batam restaurant a few times but never walk in there. This restaurant serves Nasi Padang and they made quite a name in Batam Island.
Managed to convince my colleagues, even the tea lady, to join me for a Nasi Padang lunch. There were eight of us and the waiter’s first question is ‘With or without aircond?” With the freaking hot sun, of course we chose to sit in an aircond room ^_^ We were then ushered to a room fit for 12 pax attached with an aircond unit.

The waiter came with all the plates stacked up! (It was stacked higher than what was shown here, snapped the photo too late)

Rice served in colander - Eat all you want!

Prawn

Rendang Beef

Kicap Beef

Bergedel - mashed potatoes + bits of chicken meat

Otak-Otak - not too fishy smell, more to chilli and herbs smell

Sambal Eggs

Tempeyek

Paku pakis masak Lemak

Green Chillies

Fried Fish

Lemak Fish

Curry Chicken

Chilli Chicken

BBQ Chicken - my favourite among all the chicken variety served

Steamed Chicken

Brinjal

Beef + Potatoes + Carrots Soup

Spread of food

My first helping of lunch ^_^

It’s a little different compared to Nasi Kandar / Mamak shop where you choose what to go with your rice and then they count how much it cost then give you a resit to pay at the counter later. Here at Puti Bungsu, small serving plates of food were served and you pay according to what you take - all or some portion of it ( eg: 2 piece of chicken, ate 1 piece, so you only pay for one piece) Come to think of it, what will they do with the “uneaten” piece? Put it back to the tray for the next customer?

*shakes head – okay I’m not going to think about that part*

Before finishing first helping, your appetite just gets bigger and can't resist a second or third helping!

Some of the items price list:

Rice : RM 2 per head (refillable)

Vege : RM3/ plate

Sambal Egg : RM 5 (2 pcs)

Fried Chicken : RM 4.50 /pc

Beef Rendang : RM 5 /plate

Prawns : RM 6/plate

Soup (Beef+potatoes+carrots) : RM15 /bowl

Total bill for 8 pax : RM 155.

Food was satisfying, a good lunch indeed ! ^_^ We enjoyed the food spread very much!

Dim Sum - Li Jin Restaurant, KL

.

It was just last week I had All-You-Can-Eat Dim Sum at Rennaissance Hotel, KL with my classmates. (Click here to view post). I went to another Dim Sum buffet again today! MUAHAHAHA!

Got a tip off from my classmate (who by now, knows I'm a glutton piggy) there's an "All You Can Eat" Dim Sum at Li Jin's Restaurant, Pavillion for RM 20.80++. The Dim Sum promotion is only valid on weekends and public holidays.

So Lil Piggy set off to Pavillion with an empty stomach, hoping to reach at 10.30am and start devouring all the Dim Sum she can stuff in her stomach! LOL! Ooppss.. I rephrase that : Lil Piggy was hoping to ENJOY every single bite of Dim Sum served..

Contrary to Dynasty Restaurant, here at Li Jin, customers are only allowed to dine there for 2 hours. Serious! They jot down the time you arrive in the piece of paper on your table, along with how many plates you have taken/ordered. There's a placard on the table with a note "Eat all you can eat, to avoid wastage, a surcharge of RM10/100gm will be incurred! thank You!"

Loh Mai Kai in Lotus Leaf

Century & Salted Egg Porridge

Yong Chow Fried Rice - Free flow, available buffet style

Fried Yee Mee - Free flow, available buffet style

Chicken "Drummets"

Cha Siew Pau

Scallops Siu Mai

Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun

Pork with Salted Egg dumpling

Har Kau

Siu Mai

After eating so many stuffs here, my verdict? Would rather pay the extra RM8.32 and dine at Dynasty Restaurant rather than Li Jin Restaurant.

I was not feeling on top of the world for the past few weeks and was condemning myself for every reason I could find. Coupled with stress at work and college, I was losing a grip on myself.
Instead of focusing my time on more important things, I allow myself to be depressed and succumbing to negativity. Once you’re in it, it takes so much effort and courage to get out of it. Thankfully, I am surrounded with people who loves me for who I am and it was comforting to know you are not alone after all.

An E-Book by Clove&Clive entitled “LOVE IS ALL ABOUT YOU” was forwarded to me by someone who cares a lot for me and as I read the lines, all those struck me on how simple life could be, by just.. Loving yourself first! I would like to share the highlights with all of you.

Dim Sum @ Dynasty Restaurant, KL

.

Was so stressed up with uncompleted assignments but I categorize it as a good stress level. Why? Because Lil Piggy have good appetite when she's faced with good stress level.

When my classmates and I decided to meet up and discuss on our last assignment, we agreed to have lunch before we start our discussion. Bad idea? Kinda but satisfying!! hahaha

We head over to Renaissance Hotel for their RM 28++ dim sum ALL-You-Can-Eat promotion, featuring 28 types of variety. Dim Sum Dynasty Restaurant is located inside Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur , serving Cantonese cuisine and dim sum.

The waiters / waitresses would bring out the Dim Sum on a tray to serve the tables, not the usual cart/trolleys used like other restaurants/shops. When they arrive at your table, just pick and choose whatever you want to be placed on your table.

Interior of Dynasty Restaurant, Renaissance Hotel, KL

Yam cake is reasonably made of yam, not just flour.

Chilled Jellyfish with century egg and marinated ginger

Left: Braised TauPok, Right: Szechuan Hot & Sour Soup

Century Egg & Minced Pork Congee

Vinegar braised pork trotter with egg (In Hokkien: Tu Kha Cho)

Tau Foo Fah

Sea coconut and dried longan dessert

Was feeling super full after, how many now? Hmm...triple helping couple of Siu Mais, double helpings of Har Kau, couple of Paus, Loh Mai Kais, Congee, two helpings of Szechuan soup, and the list goes on.. Love their Fried Yam Dumpling, crispy on the outside, soft in the insides and MMPPHHH!!!!!

Lil Piggy could barely walk properly as we exit the restaurant. Greedy PIG! FULL TANK!
What happens during assignment discussion? Well, although we were starting to get sleepy (especially Lil Piggy), we managed to address some areas need to be revised before submission. It surely help if you have a group discussion rather than working on your own. Lil piggy for sure will just flop to her bed after all those food in her stomach if not for the discussion.. LOLZ!

My dearest classmates, we should DO IT AGAIN!! ^_^
